The Good News: God loves you

Look around you and notice the incredible beauty and intricacy of the world, the majesty of the mountains, the wonder of the human body and its function, and the miracle of birth. We look at a watch, a computer, or an automobile and say, without reservation, that these items are man-made — they required a designer. Although the human body is infinitely more complex than any man-made item, some attribute its existence to evolution. This cannot be! Psalm 19:1 states:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”

There is a God. He has revealed Himself to us through creation and His word, The Bible. We were designed to be in a close relationship with God. However, we have all sinned and have failed to live up to the high standard of holiness God requires of us (Rom 3:23). The result is separation from God. Nevertheless, God loves you and I so much that he provided a solution: He paid the price for our sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, so that we could re-establish a relationship with Him (The Bible, John 3:16-17). God does not force us to love Him, however. He designed us with the ability to choose. We can choose to love God and accept His gift of salvation, or choose to reject God and His gift. After all, if love is not freely given, it is not love at all. To accept His gift of salvation means we will enjoy a personal relationship with God both here on earth and hereafter; to reject His gift means we will be separated from God both here on earth and hereafter, forever.

How do you accept this gift? Its simply a matter of humbling yourself, asking God for forgiveness (turning away from sin, repentance), and deciding to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life (serving Him instead of yourself). God says “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor 5:17). God gives us all this chance for a brand new start.
